Proper maintenance is essential for keeping your aerial lifts safe and operational. Learn about key maintenance requirements, including routine inspections and servicing schedules, to ensure your equipment runs smoothly and complies with safety regulations.
Your aerial lift must be maintained in safe working order. ANSI A92.6 outlines both a frequency and annual inspection. Each inspection shall be “performed by a person(s) qualified as a mechanic on the specific make and model of the aerial platform or one having similar design characteristics.”
At a minimum, federal law requires a frequency inspection every 90 days or 150 hours, whichever comes first. However, placing your aerial lift on a maintenance program schedule based on hours of operation and type of application is ideal.
An annual inspection must be performed on the aerial platform “no later than thirteen (13) months from the date of the prior annual inspection.”
What is required as part of the both inspections is determined by the aerial lift manufacturer; therefore, in the case of a mixed manufacturer fleet, a clear outline by unit is vital for compliance and operator safety. Refer to the operator’s manual for details.
