Warehouse Dock Seals And Shelters

Dock seals and shelters are essential for protecting your warehouse and employees from the elements during loading and unloading. Discover how these solutions can enhance safety, prevent product damage, and create a more efficient work environment by sealing gaps between trailers and dock doors.

Prepare Your Warehouse Dock For The Winter Season

Except for its cold temperatures, the winter season is unpredictable. With it comes wind, rain, snow, sleet and ice – all factors that increase risks of accidents during forklift operation.

As temperatures drop, more companies are installing dock seals and shelters to enhance safety during trailer loading and unloading. When a semi-truck backs its trailer up to the dock door, a 4-6” gap is often created, exposing employees, equipment, and products to harsh weather conditions. This can lead to product damage and slippery dock surfaces, increasing the risk of slips and falls.

Trailer Door Compatibility With Dock Seals

Mounted to the building, a warehouse dock seal is compatible to most common trailer door sizes. The seal forms between the dock door and the trailer’s top and sides. With no manual hook-ups necessary, forklift operators and other warehouse personnel can load or unload a trailer right away. Along with protecting your assets from the weather, the barrier also decreases the chance of insects and airborne dust entering the warehouse.

Dock Shelter

With wider and taller doors, consider upgrading to a dock shelter. Dock shelters work with a variety of trailer sizes, including those too small to connect to a dock seal. Unlike a dock seal, the shelter doesn’t project into the trailer. It won’t narrow the available space for loading or unloading product.
